Handmade in Tasmania
The “INSV Tarini – Blues" bag is made from a sail salvaged from the INSV Tarini, a 56 foot Indian Navy Sailing Vessel. Built in the Aquarius Shipyard in Goa, 2017 and famous for completing the “Navika Sagar Parikrama II” navigation with two female Indian Navy officers in 2024-25. This adventure served to highlight both women’s empowerment and India’s maritime capabilities.
The trip took 8 months and covered 43,000 kilometres.
The sail was torn in high winds off Fremantle, Western Australia during the circumnavigation. How it ended up in Tasmania is still a mystery?
The bag features dark blue “patchwork” cotton canvas sail fabric and an unusual textured white Dacron. It has a hand cut silver vinyl star emblem and piping is made from original bolt rope from the sail.
Note - whilst we do wash all materials, your bag may still show signs of its previous life of adventure on the high seas.
