The Gale Force Bucket Bag is a traditional canvas sailor's bag, often referred to as a ditty bag or sea bag. It is a durable, cylindrical bag historically used by sailors to carry personal tools and supplies. Although inspired by traditional maritime gear, it can be used to house your knitting, an alternative to a tote or cross-body bag, storage at the beach house or a sweet addition to a nautical themed room – its uses are only limited by your imagination!

Handmade in Tasmania

The “Star 1” bag is made from a beautifully worn (but not worn out!) vintage off-white Dacron sail from the “Tai-Hoa”. She is a 50-50 motor sailer, built of Oregon in NSW around 1960. “Tai-Hoa” is Maori for “no hurry”.

It features brass eyelets, an appliqued star made from Indian Navy cotton canavs (see our INSV Duffle Bags for more info on this!), a braided rope handle, an original brass clip and vintage sailmakers “RJ” logo.

Note - whilst we do wash all materials, your bag may still show signs of its previous life of adventure on the high seas.
